First Day!

Once you’ve done your research, you’re ready to try out your new location. Whenever you are trying a location for the first time, you should always give yourself a bit of extra time to park. Also, you should always have a backup in case something unexpected happens on your first day.

Getting parked at your preferred location is obviously of the utmost importance. Here are a few tricks to help you get the spot you want:

Stick and hold! Many parking spots are held by people running errands or doing deliveries; often if you are patient, the spot you want will open up.

Check meters! Look at the meters to see if one is expiring soon.

Trade locations: If you have a spot that isn’t ideal, keep an eye on the spot you want. Many drivers will trade spots if you need the help.

Call the owner of a commercial vehicle: Most commercial vehicles will have a number on the door. If you call the owner and tell them the plates on the vehicle, they might be able to page the driver and get them to swap with you. Be super friendly and gracious if they are willing to help!
